Lady Lake was founded in 1883 by a group of settlers from the Midwest. The town was originally known as Lake Griffin, but was renamed Lady Lake in 1884 after the wife of one of the settlers. Lady Lake has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters.
