Krasnoye-na-Volge is a town in Kostroma Oblast, Russia, located on the left bank of the Volga River, 30 kilometers (19 mi) northwest of Kostroma. The town has a humid continental climate, with warm summers and cold, snowy winters. Krasnoye-na-Volge was founded in the 15th century as a trading post on the Volga River. In the 18th century, it became a center for the textile industry. Today, Krasnoye-na-Volge is a major industrial town, with a population of over 50,000 people.
