Kharovsk, located in Vologda Oblast, Russia, is a small town situated on the Kubena River at the crossroads of highways connecting Vologda, Kirov, Arkhangelsk, and Yaroslavl. The town has a cold humid continental climate with long, snowy winters and short, warm summers. Its history dates back to the 12th century, when it was known as Karovskoye. In the 18th century, it became a trading center and was renamed Kharovsk in honor of the Kharov merchant family.
