Keokuk, Iowa, is a small city located in southeastern Iowa, at the confluence of the Mississippi and Des Moines rivers. The city has a humid continental climate, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Keokuk was founded in 1837 and was named after Chief Keokuk of the Sac and Fox tribe. The city was a major center of shipbuilding and manufacturing in the 19th century and is now home to a variety of industries, including tourism, agriculture, and manufacturing.
