Kazincbarcika is a city in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, northeastern Hungary, located at the confluence of the Sajó and Bódva rivers. The city has a humid continental climate with cold, snowy winters and warm, humid summers. Kazincbarcika was founded in 1949 by the merger of three villages: Sajókazinc, Sajóvámos, and Berente. The city's history is closely tied to the iron and steel industry, and it remains an important center of heavy industry in Hungary.
