Kasimov is a town in Ryazan Oblast, Russia, located on the Oka River at the confluence of the Gus River, 120 kilometers southeast of Ryazan. The climate is humid continental, with warm summers and cold winters. The town was founded in the 14th century as a military outpost of the Golden Horde, and later became the capital of the Khanate of Kasimov, a vassal state of the Grand Duchy of Moscow. Kasimov has a rich cultural heritage, with many historical and architectural monuments, including the Khan's Mosque, the Kasimov Kremlin, and the Church of the Assumption.
