Karabük is a city and the capital of Karabük Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey. It is located in the western part of the province, on the banks of the Safranbolu River. The city has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and cool, wet winters. Karabük was founded in the early 19th century as a mining town. It grew rapidly in the 20th century, becoming a major industrial center. The city is home to a number of historical and cultural attractions, including the Safranbolu Castle, the Karabük Museum, and the Karabük Atatürk Park.
