It is located at the confluence of the Middle Fork Willamette River and the Coast Fork Willamette River, approximately 12 miles north of Eugene. The city has a population of approximately 5,500 people and is known for its historic downtown area and its proximity to the Willamette Valley wine country. The climate in Junction City is mild, with average temperatures ranging from 40 degrees Fahrenheit in January to 75 degrees Fahrenheit in July. The city's history dates back to the mid-1800s, when it was founded as a stagecoach stop on the Oregon Trail.
