Jonquerettes is a commune in the Vaucluse department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. It is located in the northern part of the department, about 15 km northeast of Avignon. The village is situated on the banks of the Durance River and is surrounded by vineyards and orchards. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The history of Jonquerettes dates back to the Roman era, when it was known as "Joncae". The village was fortified in the Middle Ages and was the site of a number of battles during the Hundred Years' War. In the 16th century, Jonquerettes became a Protestant stronghold and was one of the first towns in France to adopt the Reformation. The village's heritage is reflected in its architecture, which includes a number of historic buildings, including the Romanesque church of Saint-Martin and the 16th-century Protestant temple.
