The weather in Jonesville is characterized by hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The town was founded in 1818 by John Jones, who built a mill on the Powell River. Jonesville was incorporated in 1831. The town's heritage is primarily Appalachian and Scotch-Irish.
