Jericho is a village in the town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, New York, United States. It is located on the North Shore of Long Island, approximately 25 miles east of Manhattan. The village has a population of around 13,000 people and is known for its affluent neighborhoods, excellent schools, and historic landmarks. Jericho has a humid continental climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The village was founded in 1653 by English settlers and was named after the biblical city of Jericho. Jericho has a rich history and heritage, and is home to several historic landmarks, including the Jericho Friends Meetinghouse, which is the oldest Quaker meetinghouse in continuous use in the United States.
