Jefferson, Texas, is a town located in Marion County, approximately 150 miles east of Dallas. The town has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Jefferson was founded in 1836 by Thomas Jefferson Chambers and was named after Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States. The town has a rich history and heritage, and is home to many historic buildings, including the Jefferson Historical Museum and the Excelsior House Hotel.
