Janiuay is a municipality in the province of Iloilo, Western Visayas, Philippines. It is located in the southern part of the province, approximately 35 kilometers south of Iloilo City. The municipality has a tropical climate with an average temperature of 27 degrees Celsius. Janiuay has a rich history and heritage, dating back to the pre-colonial period. The town was founded in 1580 by Spanish missionaries and was named after the Ilonggo word "Janiuay," which means "place of springs."
