International Falls, Minnesota, is located at the eastern edge of the state, on the Rainy River, opposite Fort Frances, Ontario. The city has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. International Falls was founded in 1895 as a logging town and became a major center for the paper industry in the early 20th century.
