Iara is a commune located in the Cluj County of Romania. The village has a population of around 5,000 people and is situated in the northwestern part of the county, close to the border with Hungary. In 1699, Iara was ceded to the Habsburg Empire, and it remained part of the Austrian Empire until 1918. After the First World War, Iara became part of Romania. The village has a number of historical landmarks, including the Reformed Church, which was built in the 15th century, and the manor house, which was built in the 18th century.
