Huningue is a commune in the Haut-Rhin department in Alsace, France. It is located on the left bank of the Rhine, opposite Basel, Switzerland. The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from 0°C in January to 20°C in July. Huningue was founded in 1392 by the Bishop of Basel, and it became a fortified town in the 16th century. It was captured by the French in 1681, and it has remained part of France ever since. Huningue is home to a number of historical monuments, including the Château d'Huningue, the Église Saint-Louis, and the Porte de Bâle.
