Horezu is a town in Romania, located in the Vâlcea County, in the historical region of Oltenia. The town is situated at an altitude of 320 m (1,050 ft) above sea level, in the foothills of the Căpăţânii Mountains, on the right bank of the Olt River. Horezu has a temperate continental climate, with hot summers and cold winters. The average temperature in January is -2 °C (28 °F), while the average temperature in July is 22 °C (72 °F). The town has a rich history, dating back to the 14th century, and is known for its traditional ceramics, which have been recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
