Hongor, also known as Naran, is a town in Sühbaatar Province, eastern Mongolia, located at the confluence of the Hongor and Chuluut rivers, at an elevation of 1,030 meters (3,380 feet) above sea level. The town experiences a cold desert climate with hot summers and long, cold winters. Hongor has a rich history and heritage, having been a major trading center on the Silk Road and home to the 13th-century Erdene Zuu Monastery, one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries in Mongolia.
