Hilders is a town in the Fulda district of Hesse, Germany. It is located in the Rhön Mountains, at an altitude of 400 meters (1,300 feet) above sea level. The town has a population of about 4,500 people. The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from 0°C (32°F) in January to 18°C (64°F) in July. Hilders was first mentioned in a document in 775. The town was part of the Fulda Abbey until 1803, when it was secularized and became part of the Grand Duchy of Hesse. Hilders has a rich history and heritage, and is home to several historical buildings, including the town hall, which was built in 1583.
