Hertford is a town located in Perquimans County, North Carolina, United States. It is situated on the Perquimans River, approximately 20 miles from the Albemarle Sound. The town has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Hertford was founded in 1758 and is one of the oldest towns in North Carolina. It is known for its historic architecture, including the Hertford Town Common Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
