Hershey, Pennsylvania, United States, is a borough located in Derry Township, Dauphin County, at the confluence of the Swatara and Spring Creeks. It is approximately 10 miles east of Harrisburg, the state capital. Hershey is home to the Hershey Company, a global chocolate and confectionery manufacturer, and is known as the "Chocolate Capital of the United States." The borough has a humid continental climate, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Hershey's history dates back to the 18th century, when it was founded by German immigrants. The town was named after Milton S. Hershey, who founded the Hershey Company in 1894.
