Herington, Kansas, is a small city located in the Flint Hills region of the state. It has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters. The city was founded in 1871 by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway and is named after D. W. Herington, a railroad official. Herington has a rich heritage and is home to several historic buildings, including the Herington Depot Museum and the Harvey House Museum.
