Heilsbronn is a town in the Franconian Heights Nature Park in the district of Ansbach in Bavaria, Germany. The town is located at an altitude of 415 meters above sea level, at 49° 20' N and 10° 48' E. The average annual temperature in Heilsbronn is 8.5 °C (47.3 °F), with an average annual precipitation of 650 mm (25.6 in). Heilsbronn was founded in 1132 by the Cistercian monks of Ebrach Abbey. The town's name is derived from the German words "heil" (holy) and "bronn" (well). Heilsbronn was granted town privileges in 1327. The town's main landmark is the Heilsbronn Abbey, which was founded in 1132. The abbey was dissolved in 1525 during the Reformation, and its buildings were used as a Protestant school until 1803. The abbey church is now a Protestant parish church.
