Hazen is a city in Mercer County, North Dakota, United States. It is located at the junction of U.S. Highway 83 and North Dakota Highway 49, approximately 70 miles (110 km) northwest of Bismarck. The city has a population of 2,411 as of the 2020 census. Hazen was founded in 1883 and was named after General William B. Hazen, who was the chief of the United States Army Signal Corps at the time. The city is located in the northern Great Plains and has a humid continental climate with cold, dry winters and hot, humid summers.
