Hartmannsdorf is a municipality in the district of Greiz, in Thuringia, Germany. It is located at an elevation of 330 meters (1,083 ft) above sea level, in the Thuringian Highland, at the southern edge of the Thuringian Forest. The municipality has a population of around 3,600 people. The average temperature in Hartmannsdorf is 8.5 °C (47.3 °F), and the average annual precipitation is 650 mm (26 in). The municipality was first mentioned in 1209. It was part of the Herrschaft Remda from 1354 to 1918. The municipality has a rich history and heritage, including the Hartmannsdorf Castle, which was built in the 13th century.
