Harlingen, also known as Harns, is a city and municipality in the Netherlands, located in the province of Friesland. It is situated on the Wadden Sea, in the northwest of the Netherlands, and has a temperate oceanic climate with mild winters and cool summers. Harlingen has a rich history and heritage, dating back to the 12th century when it was a fishing village. It later became a major trading port and was granted city rights in 1234. The city is known for its historic buildings, canals, and its maritime heritage.
