Hamden, Connecticut, is a town in New Haven County with a population of approximately 60,960. Located in the southern part of the state, it is bordered by New Haven to the west, North Haven to the east, Wallingford to the north, and Woodbridge to the south. Hamden has a humid continental climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The town was originally settled by English colonists in 1638 and was named after John Hampden, an English Parliamentarian who opposed King Charles I. Hamden has a rich history and heritage, with many historic buildings and sites, including the Eli Whitney Museum and the Whitneyville Historic District.
