Hainesville is a village in Lake County, Illinois, United States, with a population of 3,569 as of the 2020 census. It is located about 35 miles northwest of Chicago and has a humid continental climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The village was founded in 1835 by James Haines and was originally known as Hainesville Station. It is home to the Hainesville Public Library and the Hainesville Historical Society.
