Gutian is a town in Shanghang County, Fujian Province, China. It is located in the southwest of Fujian Province, about 200 kilometers (120 miles) from the provincial capital of Fuzhou. The weather in Gutian is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and mild, dry winters. The average annual temperature is 19.5 degrees Celsius (67.1 degrees Fahrenheit). Gutian has a long and rich history, dating back to the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD). It was a major center of the Chinese Communist Party during the Chinese Civil War (1946-1949), and is home to the Gutian Conference Site, a national historical site.
