Gryazi is a town in Lipetsk Oblast, Russia, located 110 kilometers southeast of Lipetsk and 510 kilometers southeast of Moscow. It is situated on the Matyra River, a tributary of the Don. The town has a humid continental climate with cold, snowy winters and warm, humid summers. Gryazi was founded in 1637 as a fortress to protect the southern border of the Russian state. In the 18th century, it became a major center of the iron industry, and in the 19th century, it was a center of the sugar industry. Today, Gryazi is a major industrial center, with a population of over 40,000 people.
