Greenwood, South Carolina, is a city located in the northwestern part of the state, at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Greenwood was founded in 1824 and was named after General Andrew Jackson's hometown of Greenwood, South Carolina. The city has a rich history and heritage, and is home to several historic sites, including the Greenwood County Museum and the Greenwood Historic District.
