Greenville, North Carolina, is a city located in the Coastal Plain region of the state, at the confluence of the Tar and Neuse Rivers. The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Greenville was founded in 1771 and was named after General Nathanael Greene, a hero of the American Revolutionary War. The city has a rich history and heritage, and is home to a number of historical sites, including the Greenville Museum of Art and the USS North Carolina Battleship Museum.
