It is situated in the northern part of the state, approximately 10 miles east of South Bend and 90 miles southeast of Chicago. The town has a humid continental climate, with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Granger was founded in 1831 by a group of settlers from New York. The town was named after Gideon Granger, a former Postmaster General of the United States. Granger has a rich history and heritage, and is home to a number of historic buildings and sites.
