Gorodovikovsk, formerly known as Bachanta, is a town in the Republic of Kalmykia, Russia, located at 46.0856° N, 41.9330° E, in the southeast of the republic. The town has a humid continental climate with cold winters and hot summers. Gorodovikovsk was founded in 1957 as a settlement for workers constructing the Manych irrigation canal. It was granted town status in 1971 and renamed Gorodovikovsk in honor of Oka Ivanovich Gorodovikov, a Soviet military commander and politician who was born in the area.
