Glenville is a small village in the town of Greenwich, Connecticut, located in Fairfield County, USA. The village is situated on the western shore of Greenwich Cove, a small inlet of Long Island Sound. The area has a humid continental climate, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Glenville's history dates back to the 17th century, when it was part of the Dutch colony of New Netherland. The village was originally known as "Cockenoe" and was a popular summer destination for wealthy New Yorkers. In the 19th century, Glenville became a major shipbuilding center and was home to several large shipyards. Today, Glenville is a quiet residential community with a population of around 1,500 people.
