Glencoe, Alabama is a small town located in Etowah County, approximately 5 miles east of Gadsden. The town has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. It was founded in 1883 as a coal mining town and was named after the Glencoe Valley in Scotland. Glencoe is home to the Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Library, which houses a collection of local history and genealogy materials.
