Giannitsá, also known as Yannitsa, is a city in the Pella regional unit of Central Macedonia, Greece. It is located 40 kilometers southwest of Thessaloniki, on the southern edge of the Axios River valley. The city has a rich history, dating back to the Neolithic period, and is home to several historical sites, including the ruins of the ancient city of Pella, the birthplace of Alexander the Great. The climate in Giannitsá is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters.
