Garrel is a municipality in the district of Cloppenburg, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is located approximately 15 km (9 mi) northeast of Cloppenburg, and 30 km (19 mi) southwest of Oldenburg. The municipality has a population of approximately 15,000 people. The weather in Garrel is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from 0°C (32°F) in January to 20°C (68°F) in July. The municipality has a long history, dating back to the 12th century. It was once part of the Duchy of Oldenburg, and later became part of the Kingdom of Prussia.
