Gardnertown is a town in Orange County, New York, United States. It is located in the southeastern part of the county, approximately 60 miles (97 km) northwest of New York City. The town has a total area of 40.8 square miles (106 km2) and a population of 5,820 as of the 2010 census. The climate is humid continental, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The town was first settled by Europeans in the early 18th century and was named after Samuel Gardner, one of the original settlers. The town has a rich history and heritage, and is home to several historic sites, including the Gardnertown Reformed Church, which was built in 1743.
