Foucherans is a commune in the Doubs department of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in eastern France. It is located 12 km (7.5 mi) northeast of Besançon, the regional capital. The climate is humid continental, with moderate rainfall throughout the year. The history of Foucherans dates back to the Roman period, when it was known as "Focherans". In the Middle Ages, it was part of the County of Burgundy. The village was fortified in the 16th century, and the remains of the fortifications can still be seen today. Foucherans has a rich heritage, including the 12th-century Church of Saint-Martin, the 16th-century Château de Foucherans, and the 19th-century Mairie (town hall).
