Forty Fort, Pennsylvania is a borough in Luzerne County, located on the Susquehanna River in the Wyoming Valley. The borough has a humid continental climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Forty Fort was founded in 1769 by forty settlers from Connecticut and was named after the forty settlers who established the community. The borough is home to several historical sites, including the Forty Fort House, which was built in 1772 and is the oldest surviving building in the Wyoming Valley.
