Fort Meade, Maryland, also known as Fort George Meade, is a United States Army installation located approximately 10 miles southwest of Baltimore and 25 miles northeast of Washington, D.C. The fort's history dates back to the Civil War when it was established as a training ground for Union troops. Today, Fort Meade is home to the National Security Agency (NSA) and other intelligence agencies. The fort's weather is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and cool, wet winters.
