Forest, Mississippi, is a city located in Scott County, at the intersection of Mississippi Highway 35 and U.S. Highway 80, with a population of 5,626. The city experiences a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Forest was founded in 1866 by a group of freed slaves and named after General William Tecumseh Sherman's March to the Sea during the Civil War. The city has a rich heritage and is home to several historic landmarks, including the Forest City Cemetery, the Forest Methodist Church, and the Forest City Hall.
