Flint, Michigan, is a city located in the eastern part of the Lower Peninsula, at the crossroads of Interstate 75 and Interstate 69. The city has a humid continental climate, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Flint was founded in 1819 by Jacob Smith, and was named after the Flint River which runs through the city. The city's economy was once heavily dependent on the automobile industry, but has since diversified to include a variety of other industries. Flint is also home to the University of Michigan-Flint, and the Flint Institute of Arts.
