Fitchburg, Massachusetts is a city located in northern Worcester County, approximately 50 miles northwest of Boston. The city has a rich history dating back to the early 18th century, when it was known as Lunenburg. It was renamed Fitchburg in 1832 in honor of John Fitch, a local inventor and engineer. Fitchburg played a significant role in the American Industrial Revolution, becoming a major center for the production of paper, textiles, and machinery. Today, the city is home to a diverse population and a vibrant arts and culture scene.
