Fishers, Indiana is a city located in Hamilton County, Indiana, United States. It is a suburb of Indianapolis, located approximately 19 miles (31 km) northeast of downtown Indianapolis. The city has a population of 98,977 as of the 2020 census, making it the ninth-most populous city in Indiana. Fishers was founded in 1836 by John Tipton, a prominent Indiana politician and military leader. The city was named after Lewis Cass, who served as governor of the Michigan Territory and later as Secretary of War under President James Monroe. Fishers is home to several large corporations, including Eli Lilly and Company, Roche Diagnostics, and Angie's List. The city is also home to the Conner Prairie Interactive History Park, which tells the story of Indiana's history through interactive exhibits and demonstrations. Fishers has a humid continental climate, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The city receives an average of 42 inches of rain and 24 inches of snow per year.
