Filsen is a municipality in the district of Cochem-Zell, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located in the Hunsrück mountains, approximately 10 kilometers (6 miles) northeast of Cochem. The village has a population of around 300 people. The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from 0°C (32°F) in January to 20°C (68°F) in July. Filsen was first mentioned in a document in 1240. The village was part of the Archbishopric of Trier until 1803, when it became part of the Duchy of Nassau. In 1866, Filsen became part of Prussia. The village has a number of historic buildings, including the 14th-century church of St. Peter and Paul.
