Ferriday, Louisiana, is a town located in Concordia Parish, at the intersection of U.S. Highways 84 and 165, and at the confluence of the Mississippi and Black Rivers. The town has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild, dry winters. Ferriday was founded in 1813 by William Ferriday, a planter from Virginia. The town was originally known as "Rodney," but was renamed "Ferriday" in 1836. Ferriday is home to several historic buildings, including the Concordia Parish Courthouse, which was built in 1852 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
