Fenton is a city in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. It is located approximately 12 miles southwest of downtown St. Louis, at latitude 38.5131100 and longitude -90.4359500. The city has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters. Fenton was founded in 1818 by John Fenton, a pioneer from Kentucky. The city was originally known as "Fenton's Mill" after the mill that John Fenton built on the Meramec River. The city's name was later changed to "Fenton" in 1855. Fenton has a rich history and heritage, and is home to a number of historic buildings and landmarks, including the Fenton Historical Museum and the Fenton City Hall.
