Fayetteville was founded in 1751 by John Penn, the son of William Penn, and was named after his wife, Lady Juliana Fermor. The borough is home to several historic sites, including the Fayetteville Inn, which was built in 1752 and is one of the oldest buildings in Pennsylvania.
